Pres. Turner called the meeting to order at 8:10PM. All officers were present.
BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS:
- Letter from Cynthia Scott concerning donation for the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure 2008.
- Letter from Edwin Hill concerning request for financial aid to Local 2376 in Vallejo, California in their fight against the city which is trying to void the collective bargaining agreement.
- Follow-up letter from Keith Craig to John Long concerning Notification of hazardous conditions at Kingston Fossil Plant and requesting a safety stand-down until the situations can be resolved.
- Letter from Robert Klein to request financial contributions to the IBEW Political Education Fund.
- Letter from Edwin Hill concerning annual membership survey due November 30th.
- Letter from Keith Craig concerning panel meeting on October 8th.
- Letter from Keith Craig concerning notification of approval for the leave transfer program for Steve T. Reynolds (CCDO from Paradise Fossil Plant).
- Letter from Keith Craig requesting 3rd & 4th quarter per capita payment to the IBEW trades and Labor Council
- Letter from Edwin Hill concerning Election 2008 DVD that was shown at the beginning of the meeting additional information on this can be found at www.ibew.org.
- Request for reimbursement from Danny Turner for 12hours LWOP for panel meeting, Kingston visit with Keith Craig and labor relations hearing for Jeff May; mileage for above trips
- Request for reimbursement from Jason Melton for 12 hours LWOP for job steward meeting and mileage
- Request for reimbursement from Steve Cox for 36 hours LWOP for job stewards meeting, grievance hearing @ Kingston and labor relations meeting at Kingston
REPORTS OF E-BOARD:
- Nothing to report at this time.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
- Pres. Turner reported on the Sept. 8th panel meeting.
- Letter requesting a meeting with the Joint Maintenance Committee.
- Pres. Turner reported on the Sept. 15th visit to Kingston Fossil Plant along with Keith Craig.
- Pres. Turner reported on the Labor Relations hearing at Kingston Fossil Plant on Sept. 25th.
PROPOSITION OF MEMBERHIP:
- Honorary withdrawal for the following:
- Donald Lowery retired
- Mendall Snodgrass retired
- John Stout travel card to Bull Run as AUO.
REPORTS OF DELEGATES AND COMMITTEES:
- Anniversary committee discussed the idea on the T-shirts.
- Ronnie Fletcher gave a report from the Upper East Tenn. CLC. They are asking for support in the campaign process. Also discussed the upcoming Hall of Fame Banquet. A motion was made and seconded to send delegates to represent us there.
REPORTS OF ACCIDENTS, SICKNESS OR DEATHS:
- Mike Soderburg had sinus surgery.
- Jared Smith from Bull Run out sick.
- Tim Lowery had back injury.
- James Jacks CCDO passed away.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
- Development of budget for Local still in progress.
- Local newsletter will be looked at when budget is complete.
- Expense and procedure policy for Local in draft status.
- Travel expense report and lost time voucher forms being reviewed and adjusted before being presented to the membership.
- Holding Union meetings at a different location in an attempt to increase participation. Motion was made and seconded to move the November meeting only to United Food and Commercial Workers Local 272T in Morristown. The body voted in approval of this motion. See bottom of minutes for address.
- CCDO staffing at Kingston Fossil Plant (discussed at the Sept. panel meeting).
- Bypassing the Labor Relations step in the grievance process. Having issues with TVA not allowing time or keeping appointments (discussed at the Sept. panel meeting).
NEW BUSINESS:
- Foreman/supervisor Safety and Responsibilities & Expectations form at Bull Run.
- Assistant Business manager Faust to visit Boone Hydro Plant.
- Labor Relations hearings Scheduled for 5 grievances from Kingston Fossil Plant on Oct. 29th.
GOOD OF THE UNION:
- Steve Cox gave an informative presentation on wage negotiations.
- Website update:
- TN AFL-CIO Labor Council 2008 Candidates list.
- Payroll deduction form for PAC.
- Roger Mustard won the door prize.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:30PM. The next meeting is scheduled for November 4th, 2008. This meeting will be held at:
